What is a TN-TFT Display?

A TN-TFT (Twisted Nematic- Thin Film Transistor) display is a type of Liquid Crystal Display with thin film transistors for controlling the image formation.

The TFT technology works by controlling brightness in red, green and blue sub-pixels through transistors for each pixel on the screen. TN displays benefit from fast pixel response times and less smearing than other LCD display technology, but suffer from poor color reproduction and limited viewing angles, especially in the vertical direction. Colors will shift, potentially to the point of completely inverting, when viewed at an angle that is not perpendicular to the display.

TFT-LCD technology is now fairly mature. As a result, manufacturing processes are efficient and production yields are high, leading to very competitive unit prices. Upgrading from a monochrome display to a TFT is now an affordable way to give your product an uplift.
